Attendance

If a child misses a significant number of lessons then it will likely their education will be greatly affected. We therefore have a strict policy on attendance and punctuality. Attendance is monitored monthly and reviewed with the Wiltshire Council Educational Welfare Officer.

ABSENCE

If your child is unable to attend school for any reason please telephone or e-mail the school office for every school day your child is absent and let us know before 9.00am. We require evidence of medical appointments for any absence during the school day. It is important that the school receives accurate information from parents regarding the reason for absence. Please ensure you clearly state the child’s name, class and detailed reason for absence.

ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY

On Time Every Day. It is essential that children come to school every day on time, as we know that good attendance leads to good progress. The school gates open at 8.45am and the school day begins promptly at 8.50am. We ask that children arrive promptly to ensure a positive start to their learning so please ensure your child is not late for school. Children who arrive late are asked to report to the school office on arrival. Any late attendance is recorded on school reports to parents.

HOLIDAYS DURING TERM TIME

From August 2024, new DfE regulations have come into force regarding leave of absence for children from school. The current law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child on holiday during term time. Any application for leave must be in exceptional circumstances and the Head Teacher must be satisfied that the circumstances warrant the granting of leave. The regulations regarding the issue of penalty notices have changed, please contact the school office prior to booking a holiday to see how the fines may impact you.
